Eid celebrations within the UK

  • April 29, 2022

The UK is home to over 3.4 million Muslims and therefore many events take place throughout the country to celebrate significant dates and holidays in the Islamic calendar.

As Ramadan draws to a close, I know that Eid celebrations will now begin for many of you. Celebrations to mark Eid al-Fitr will take place in cities all over the UK. To give you a flavour of what you can expect from Eid festivities in the UK here is a list of some of the events that are happening this year.

Celebrations to mark Eid al-Fitr in Birmingham have been announced across the city, here is a selection of these and where they take place.

Green Lane Masjid - Eid at Small Heath Park

The Masjid is hosting two large events for Eid al-Fitr this year. Eid at Small Heath Park will be held with an expected turnout of around 20,000 people. There will be activities, including a Fun-Fair at the Park, for families to enjoy after prayers have concluded.

Green Lane Masjid - Edgbaston Cricket Ground

2,000 people are expected to attend Eid at the Edgbaston Stadium grounds. The event is in partnership with Warwickshire County Cricket Club. People are anticipated to begin arriving at Edgbaston Stadium from 7.45 a.m. for Eid prayers, which will begin at 8.30 a.m. Stalls, refreshments, and children's cricket instruction will be available at Edgbaston Stadium. Attendees are invited to stay throughout the entire morning to take part in the activities.

In what is set out to be a huge celebration of Eid-al-Fitr in Manchester, Eid in the Park is a momentous event that brings families and friends together. Supported by local mosques in the city, join in with 10,000 other Muslims during the 9:30 am Eid prayer, and then enjoy a host of different foods, stalls and rides.
