Relocation packages are granted by an NHS Trust to an overseas Doctor to cover travelling expenses when coming to join their team. Not all trusts will offer such packages, but it is something to check in advance. Agencies such as BDI Resourcing will make you aware of these packages and can sometimes negotiate for them on your behalf.
Many Internationally trained Doctors have expressed the belief that it is not always the financial support that is most important when relocating to the UK. In fact, it is emotional support and practical guidance that makes all the difference.
Using an agency may be extremely beneficial to some as BDI Resourcing allocate a relocation officer to every doctor to be your expert on hand for relocation advice. We have found that doctors and their families settle into life in the UK better when they have taken advantage of having a relocation officer on hand.
Relocation packages will vary depending on the Trust and the level of demand for your post. Sometimes Trusts will reimburse you for flights or will sometimes offer a total sum that can be spent on anything you require for your move such as flights, short term accommodation and visas. In some cases, the Trust will first ask for receipt of such purchases before they are reimbursed.
As mentioned above, when interviewing Doctors that have joined NHS Trusts it is commonly stated that the help of a relocation assistant was far more valuable than the funds offered. Our relocation assistants here at BDI Resourcing are on hand to give personal and tailored help towards your move. Having professional guidance as well as a friend on hand here in the UK will ensure that you are supported 24/7. The help that they can offer can be anything from helping book flights to finding schools for your children. Most of the time such friendships are formed that your relocation assistant will continue to always be at the end of the phone even after commencing your post.
A massive benefit of opting to use BDI Resourcing as your agency when finding an NHS position is that you are assigned a relocation assistant FREE OF CHARGE.
It is important to note that this offer is not only extended to those currently working abroad but Doctors who are looking for their second or third role in the NHS will also have access to the same as relocating from one region of the UK to the other can require just as much guidance.
