The Royal College of Emergency Medicine offers a range of examinations which will lead to the award of the Membership of the Royal College of Emergency Medicine (MRCEM) or the Fellowship of the Royal College of Emergency Medicine (FRCEM) of the College.
Some of the benefits of MRCEM/FRCEM include…
MRCEM/FRCEM is recognisable and highly regarded among clinicians. When NHS Trusts are shortlisting CVs having this qualification on the first page of your CV will immediately showcase your abilities and you are more likely to stand out against other candidates. Also, the clinicians that will be on your interview panel would have sat the examinations so they will know exactly what it took to pass and will know exactly what your capabilities are as a result.
RCEM membership provides you with a range of support, education, resources and training. RCEMLearning was rated the number one-member benefit in both the 2018 and 2021 member surveys. Membership will allow you full access to the RCEMLearning site providing high quality, clinically relevant materials including MRCEM and FRCEM revision resources
Members are the first to know about College events with discounted rates, this helps Emergency Medicine specialists to keep knowledge and skills up to date.
It is strongly advised that CESR applicants work towards completing all parts of the FRCEM exam, as these are adapted to the curriculum and form basic tests of knowledge considered essential for an EM consultant. Those applicants without the Fellowship examination rarely provide adequate alternative evidence.
