Paediatrics is a very popular specialism in the UK. In fact, the medical professionals we spoke with claimed that paediatric jobs are frequently among the most satisfying. Below we have summerised 6 of the most common answers given to the question, why do you love being a paediatrician?

1. A variety of exposures

You encounter a variety of challenges while working with patients. Each patient is so unique and because of this there are so many diverse dynamics at play - so you have to consider everything; there is no one solution that works for everyone. This makes for an exciting and everchanging workday.

2. Its hugely rewarding

When a child is ill it undoubtedly impacts the whole family. When you offer quality care that makes a difference it is hugely rewarding as your work has a major impact on the family. Due to the fact that you are treating patients whilst they are young you paving the way for them to have a happy and healthy life.

3. Supportive and positive teams

You can usually find yourself in a team of like-minded friendly people. Most paediatricians begin their career knowing where they want to end up. The specialism attracts fun, caring and positive Doctors which makes for a terrific working environment.

4. Getting perspective

Peering at the world through a child’s eyes can be a beautiful thing. Being surrounded by the innocent viewpoint of children can really put everything into perspective.

5. Lifelong relationships

Many find the most rewarding thing about working in paediatrics is the life long bonds you can create with your patients.
